Qualitative Research Method Training-Course
Mandated to enhance the research capability and productivity of higher educational institutions (HEIs) in the Bicol Region, CHED-BU Zonal Research Center conducted a Training-Course on Qualitative Research Method last March 16-18,2011 at Bicol University College of Science Auditorium. The training aim to retool the faculty-researchers and develop their competences in conducting qualitative research.
Topics discussed were Qualitative Research and Differing Perspectives in Research Inquiry, Issues in Qualitative Social Science Research(with film showing), Observation as a Method of Inquiry in Qualitative Research, Using Interview in Qualitative Research, The Case Study as a Qualitative Research Strategy, and Analysis and Interpretation of Qualitative Data. Interactive discussion and workshop go after every topic to assess the knowledge gain during the training.
The Director of ZRC Dr. Arnulfo M. Mascariñas and faculty from UPLB, Dept. of Social Sciences Prof. Girlie Nora Abrigo and Prof. Lea Marasigan serves as the resource speakers.

RESEARCH PROPOSAL PREPARATION WRITESHOP
CHED-BU Zonal Research Center conducted a Research Proposal Preparation Writeshop last January 26-28, 2011 at the Bicol University College of Nursing Function Hall. The objective of this activity is to train the researchers from 30 covered Higher Education Institutions in the Region on packaging fundable and publishable research to enhance the research capacity and capability as mandated by CHED.
Overview of Research, Guide to Research Proposal Preparation using GIA format, Making Therotical and Conceptual Framework, Sampling Techniques and Procedures, Measurement and Instrumentation, Research Design, and data Analysis were the topic discussed during the said activity. Resource Persons were Dr. Arnulfo M. Mascariñas, Dr. Luis Amano, Prof. Flor. A. Jenkin, Prof. Ida Francia H. Revale, and Prof. Michael V. Montealegre.
Workshop and presentation of proposal were also conducted to assess the knowledge/output generated from the activity.
